Bodegas Castillo de Gumiel are producers and manufacturers of their own wines. Our 222 acres of vineyards, growing red Tinta Fina del Pais and white Albillo grapes, are situated in Gumiel de Mercado and La Aguilera. 35% of our vines are between 40 and 60 years old, while some are older than 100 years. Our vineyards are located on hill slopes among oak trees, thyme and lavender bushes, and other naturally growing vegetation, all adding their aromas to the grapes. 85% of our vineyards are planted with low bush vines, which allows the plants to enjoy a greater amount of sunlight. Growing vines of this low bush type is more labor intensive, since it is impossible to use machinery, and tasks must be carried out by hand, from pruning the shoots to picking the grapes. Yields are extremely low and it is manifestly clear that our marvellous grapes give our wines their top quality. Here at Bodegas Castillo de Gumiel we know that if we look after our vines with the utmost care, then we will obtain good quality grapes to make great wines. The production process of these wines takes place in installations at our winery, equipped with the best technology and manufacturing expertise to enable us to produce high quality wines.
