Old vines

Ferratus represents the culmination of the Cuevas family's vision to create a top quality wine. In order to carry out this project, we have built a winery using the best materials and human resources, placing particular emphasis on a meticulous care of the vines. Set in the middle of a pine grove, the winery – half buried – surprises people with the beauty of its surroundings and its respect for the environment.

Tasting Notes

At the visual phase we are looking at a very opaque wine, with an intense picota cherry red colour and powerful, bright violet shades. It shows exuberant tinted glycerine as it slides down the inner walls of the glass. In the nose it immediately shows its great aromatic intensity. There is plenty of red and black forest fruit picked at its ripest, with touches of cherry and menthol in perfect harmony with just the right mineral touch. Notes of tobacco and chocolate provide this splendid nose with a point of complexity. In the mouth the wine has personality, character and power. It is voluminous and rounded but silky and elegant, with a long, fresh passage through the mouth. It is singular and identifiable with the land of its origin. A

Tasting Notes

SENSACIONES 2005 appears as a bright, intensely coloured wine with elegant purple highlights and a deep heart of strong cherry red. When the glass is tilted, slow, persistent legs of glycerine leave faint streaks of colour on the inside walls as further proof of this red’s intensity of colour. In the nose plenty of black and red fruit and woodland berries (blueberries, currants and blackberries) appear together with faint notes of orange blossom perfectly harmonised with the subtlety of the French oak from the ageing process. The result is a perfect blend between the fruit of the wine and the spicy essences of the oak: cocoa, English chocolates, pepper, caramel... In the mouth the wine is big, with notable, sweet, expressive tannin. It

Tasting Notes

FERRATUS A0 2010 is a modern, youthful wine in its design and conception, with a beautiful picota cherry red colour with violet highlights and sufficient depth to suit its style and purpose. Its aromas largely recall red berries, with a slight floral touch and the nose provided by an exceptional ageing process, constantly seeking a modern feel. The fact that the malolactic fermentation of this wine has been carried out entirely in the barrel and that it has been aged and stirred on its own lees during this time is an original feature. The oak-ageing time has varied between batches until subsequent blending, always seeking elegance and final balance. In the mouth the wine is soft, ripe and appetising and the tannins appear polished an
