Bodegas Resalte de Peñafiel, Spain (DO Ribera del Duero) was founded in the year 2000 with the purpose of creating high quality wines that would stand out in the competitive region. The cellars are located in the heart of the Ribera del Duero in the historic village of Peñafiel. The winery´s name and logo, the highest battlement of the Castle of Peñafiel, originate from the philosophy of aspiring to excellence. The wines are made from 100% Tempranillo, with the grapes being hand picked with a rigorous selection done first at the vineyard. The vines range from 10 to 100 years of age and are located along various points of the Ribera del Duero to include 80 hectares in total. The annual production is 250,000 bottles per year but has the capacity to grow to reach 500,000 bottles per year. The cellars are equipped with a sophisticated gravity system, which consists of the latest technology. The purpose is to allow the grapes to arrive at the fermentation tanks intact in order to extract their maximum potential during fermentation. The cellars house a temperature and humidity controlled barrel room for ageing, which is done in high quality French and American oak. The winery offers three brands that appeal to different channels but all under the same purpose of providing consumers with wines of the highest quality: Resalte, the maximum expression of the winery focused on specialty stores, hotels and restaurants, Peña Roble, a more commercial brand with a young and modern image offering a great price-quality ratio, and Balsión, its new brand for large retailers.
